Several members helped at the NFAFA stall at the Pennington Picnic on Sunday.  The Picnic is an annual community event, organised by a local councillor, Paul Hickman.  We were blessed with a warm, fine day and lots of pleasant company.

The first job was to erect and peg down the NFAFA gazebo, and Gerry arrived on cue to help Mike with this interesting challenge - first time for Gerry and only second for Mike!  It was then fitted out with a table, lots of NFAFA leaflets and our notice board.  

Ken did the first shift, welcoming visitors and offering leaflets and information.  (He was maybe a little distracted at times as Carol and Joy were rapidly filling shopping bags with plants and other goodies from neighbouring stalls).

After lunch, Val arrived and helped to man the stall.  There were many visitors to the picnic with mobility difficulties and Joan and Val took turns at being ‘roving ambassadors’ around the Common, handing out leaflets and talking to people.  The NFAFA stall attracted a steady stream of visitors.

There were various competitions and activities in the afternoon and we were well entertained with music from a Folk Duo.  All went well until a moderate breeze started in the middle of the afternoon.  The gazebo had to be re-pegged, the sides removed and the leaflets held down with weights.  Neighbouring stall holders appeared with various leaflets which had been blown across the Common by the wind.

It was a very enjoyable day and some more publicity for NFAFA.
